Accounting and finance roles have increasingly taken on an international dimension. With growing globalisation and the convergence of international accounting practices, this course meets the business world’s demand for graduates who are educated to Masters level in International Accounting and Finance.
The course provides specialised training in international accounting and finance, and helps you develop the reporting and analysis skills needed by organisations worldwide. It also enables you to gain an appreciation of international investment issues from a range of perspectives.
By the end of the course you’ll be able to offer employers an understanding of international reporting standards which have an increasing global relevance, along with an advanced awareness of international financial markets.
The MSc International Accounting and Finance is accredited by the global accounting body, ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), underlining our close relationships with the profession.
This accreditation gives graduates automatic exemption from four of their papers, (Accountant in Business, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Corporate and Business Law) with a fifth and sixth (Financial Management and Financial Reporting) possible based on the spring semester options you choose.
Some of the MSc modules also cover elements of the learning outcomes from all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme, helping you progress towards CFA Charterholder status.
Student Managed Investment Fund
Our students have established a Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF), with support of our academics within the Accounting and Finance Division. The SMIF allows you to gain practical experience of managing investments. A student-led project, it will help you to enhance your employability before you graduate – giving you exceptional practical understanding of theoretical aspects of investment valuation. Particular emphasis is placed on the principles of responsible investment, including the use of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria when selecting stocks. Find out more about the Student Managed Investment Fund, the regular guest speakers and how you can get involved at the SMIF website.
Gain real-life experience at Amplify Trading Boot Camp
The course includes an innovative week-long global financial trading and training boot camp run by our partner Amplify. The boot camp won the CFA Institute’s Innovative Delivery of Education (IDEA) Award in 2015. You’ll trade futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and participate in simulated financial work environments. The boot camp bridges the gap between an academic understanding of financial markets and how they function in practice.
