Claymont Foundation awards scholarships

The Claymont Foundation has awarded scholarships to 70 Claymont students and graduates totaling $155,450. 

These scholarships have been made possible through donations from individuals, organizations and businesses who value education. 

The foundation selected the winners for an additional $7,500 in scholarships donated by the LaPorte Family. The grand total awarded is $162,950.

Hermalinda Abarca is the recipient of a $3,750 Paul R. and Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship and a $500 Cliff and Erma Reneker Memorial Scholarship. She will study communications studies at Ashland University. She is the daughter of Donna Tayagua.

Mia Applegarth is the recipient of a $2,275 Paul R. and Lois J. Sproul Memorial Scholarship. She will study nursing at Kent State University — Tuscarawas. She is the daughter of Jessica Hart.

Madison Barber is the recipient of a $500 Ronnie Vinci Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 John Stozich Memorial Scholarship and a $625 LaPorte Family Scholarship. She will study psychology at Cleveland State University. She is the daughter of James and Susan Barber.
