Industrialists and Professional seek relief to make GST registration hassle-free

The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department should offer a temporary mechanism to accept a taxpayer’s appeal by accepting a portion amount until the GST tribunal is established.

Industrialists have requested the CGST department to accept a taxpayer’s appeal by accepting 20% of the entire payment amount until the appeal is resolved.

Tarun Vyas, secretary of the Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh (AIMP) said, “”The need is to speed the process of setting up the GST appellate tribunal. Also, until the procedure is completed, the department should accept the appeals, and a temporary accommodation should be created.”

On Monday, the CGST and Central Excise, Indore, organised a conference of businessmen and tax professionals to solicit comments and feedback on key GST standards.

According to business leaders, the government should take 20% of the total payment amount from assessors and accept the taxpayer’s appeal as a temporary settlement.

Local officials should be authorised to review documentation for new GST registrations, according to industry players.

“GST registration should be hassle-free and smooth,” Vyas remarked. The regional office should verify documentation at the local level to accomplish this.

Delicacy in issuing notices was also urged out of industries and tax specialists. According to experts, if the state has issued a notice that the assess has presented in an investigation, the assess should not be issued another notice by the central.

Industry participants also requested the agency not to cancel the GST registration from the back date.
