In our Feb. 28, 2023 feature about the discontinuation of QuickBooks Point-of-Sale, we told you Intuit was working with Shopify to provide an alternative POS solution.
An early release version of Shopify’s POS solution—designed to work with QuickBooks Desktop Financial Software—was available for testing at the time Intuit notified the public it was discontinuing QuickBooks POS support, effective Oct. 3, 2023.
Early indications were that Shopify’s POS and payments solution would enable users to manage both in-store and online sales from a single platform with remote access, enhanced reporting, a modern interface and multi-channel selling.
Intuit has designated Shopify as its “preferred provider” to offer a POS solution integrating with QuickBooks Desktop.
Current QuickBooks POS users who choose to migrate to the new Shopify POS solution1 will get 50% off the new POS software and select hardware when bundled with Shopify Payments1, plus they will receive a free tap and chip card reader and free eCommerce.
The new Shopify POS solution also provides users with:
- Unlimited registers per location
- Local pickup and local delivery
- The ability to redeem gift cards online and in store
- Integrated customer order history
- Social media selling
- In-store return or exchange of online purchases
In addition, Shopify will provide QuickBooks POS customers who choose to make the transition with a free migration tool, premium on-boarding, free 24/7 support, and exclusive software and hardware discounts.
For more information about the Shopify customized Point-of-Sale solution1 that integrates with QuickBooks Desktop and the special bundles it is offering migrators, see this Shopify website.
