NetSuite Now Running in Oracle Cloud Regions in Toronto and Montreal

To expand their footprint of data centers around the world and meet the demand of their growing customer base in Canada, NetSuite is now running in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) cloud regions in Toronto and Montreal. This is the first time the NetSuite service is running from data centers in Canada.

The OCI cloud regions will provide low-latency and high-speed data transfer to help give Canadian customers the fastest and most reliable NetSuite experience.

All new NetSuite customers in Canada will be provisioned in the OCI Toronto or Montreal cloud regions beginning immediately. Current Canadian customers will be migrated in the coming months. Throughout this process, NetSuite customers should see no functionality differences.

Helping Customers Comply with Canadian Regulations

By making NetSuite available in the Oracle Cloud Montreal and Oracle Cloud Toronto Regions, Oracle will be able to help Canada-based customers reduce cross-border data transfers, making it easier to comply with local laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). In addition, these changes can help customers ensure the security and privacy of sensitive data classified by the Canadian government as Protected B information.

In addition, with two separate data centers in Canada, Oracle will be able to provide robust disaster recovery capabilities that help customers comply with regulatory requirements around data residency.

Partners and Analysts Welcome NetSuite’s New Cloud Region

“To keep up with data protection regulations, data residency is a top priority for Canadian businesses,” said Johnny Than, principal and CEO at Appficiency. “As a NetSuite Alliance Partner since 2015, these new data centers in Canada will help Appficiency continue to help our customers maximize the value of NetSuite Cloud ERP with enhanced data privacy and performance capabilities.”

“Canadian organizations take factors such as security, application performance as well as governance and compliance requirements around data residency into account when choosing cloud providers utilizing cloud workloads,” said Megha Kumar, research vice president Cloud Services at IDC Canada. “The focus on data residency is expected to rise as new regulations come into effect within provinces and at a federal level as well.”

Expanding the Oracle NetSuite Global Data Center Footprint

The Oracle Cloud Montreal and Oracle Cloud Toronto Regions are part of Oracle’s network of global data centers that are designed to enable high availability, data residency, and disaster protection and allow us to extend our commitment to providing rapid scalability and outstanding performance to the growing customer base in Canada.

With the addition of these cloud regions, NetSuite is now running in 13 OCI cloud regions in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. This enables NetSuite customers, regardless of size, to access the same benefits that previously were only available to the largest global organizations.
